New Hampshire Cemeteries That Offer Natural Burial Options

Some cemeteries in New Hampshire provide burial space that allows variations on natural burial practices and conventional vault burial. All but Lebanon restrict burials to residents or those with a compelling reason to ask for an exemption. NH state law requires each municipality to provide burial space for its own citizens. Be sure to ask about the extent of each town's efforts to comply with natural burial tenets, including the lack of a vault requirement or embalming, 3.5-4 foot burial depth, use of biomass, biodegradable container requirements, and other practices, to ensure that it meets your expectations for a natural burial.
